The main purpose of the placement is to carry out combination training and on the job coaching and mentoring for health staff in a hospital base and in Peripheral health Units (Maternal and Child health posts).VSO is different from most organizations that fight poverty. Instead of sending money or food, they bring people together to share skills and knowledge. The program is great for new and experienced globalcreators.

VSO is a development organization that fights poverty through volunteers. Recruiting  skilled volunteers from all over the world, and from all sectors of society, including business leaders, parliamentarians, and young people, currently, over 30% of their people come from within the country of their placement. They also send a significant number of people from one developing country to another. VSO has engaged over 43,000 volunteers to work on international development programs in more than 120 countries. VSO volunteer could deliver continuous professional development training to trainee nurses on the various set of skills as mentioned below in the description.

Position Requirements:

  • Member of RCGP – MRCGP or FRCGP ?
  • Clinical experience in the management of common conditions in primary care common to Sierra Leone; family planning; women’s health including pregnancy care; child health; community health.
  • Must be registered in home country
  • ?Must be able to register with the Sierra Leone Dental and Medical council Council.
